Spherical CdS Nanoparticles Precipitated from a Cadmium Thiosulfate Complex Using Ultraviolet Light for Photocatalytic Dye Degradation

Thiosulfate is an inorganic ligand that forms a soluble light-sensitive cadmium thiosulfate complex, and sulfide (CdS) with “size effect” can be produced via ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. This study investigated the activity of CdS nanoparticles (NPs) precipitated from complex UV irradiation on photocatalytic dye degeneration. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) transmission (TEM) demonstrated decomposition products were spherical NPs. The NPs was evaluated based degradation rates methylene blue, rhodamine B, methyl orange. With 25 mg concentration 10 L−1, three dyes under visible light 36%, 90%, 80%, respectively. A kinetic revealed rate followed first-order kinetics, constants for determined to 0.0051, 0.0762, 0.0144 min−1, exhibited stable performance after cycles blue degradation. indicates formed used photocatalysis, which will save resources help in environmental conservation.
